Five Of The Best Movie Sequels Ever Made

From action-packed masterpieces and romanticized love stories to silver-screen mysteries and gruesome thrillers, we live in an age where the big screen plays an important part in our lives.

This prevalent form of entertainment is also classed as an influential medium for educating audiences about other cultures, art and history. This is all made possible through a series of visual effects, which are often complemented by powerful soundtracks.

 The Godfather Part II (1974)

The Godfather – one of the most famous films of all time – is a crime masterpiece that allowed an insight into the dark and captivating world of the Mafia. Francis Ford Coppola’s ambitious picture won an impressive six Academy Awards, of which it was nominated for 11. Both Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino take to the stage in a portrayal of a young Vito Corleone.

 The Color of Money (1986)

One of the most renowned directors, Martin Scorsese, successfully takes on the task of creating the follow-up to The Hustler, which was originally screened in 1959. Paul Newman was cast to teach Tom Cruise all there is there to know about hitting the jackpot in pool hustling, which in the end motivates him to make an incongruous comeback.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (1966)

An epic western featuring Clint Eastwood, which circles three sharp gunslingers probing for a concealed fortune of Allied gold. Renowned director Quentin Tarantino considers this motion picture to be one of the best ever made!

 Toy Story 3 (2010)

A film for everybody children and grown-ups, this highly colourful picture sees the toys return for one last time. They do however have to deal with the departure of their beloved owner ‘Andy’, who leaves for University. This easy-to-watch movie is jam-packed with highs and lows, as well as a lot of laughs.

 Evil Dead II (1987)

Inspired by the original, this follow-up sequel proved to be just as much of a cult hit as its predecessor. It’s not however for the light-hearted and although created on a budget, there is more than enough chainsaw action. Shortly followed by the Army of Darkness, it is debatable which sequel is better.

With the release of Blu-ray and High Definition, three-dimensional television sets, most die-hard film buffs will have each and every one of these sequels at their disposal, often in several versions. It is therefore beneficial to sell DVDs online for cash. This will not only allow you to make way for new releases, it will also enable you to put a little money aside for the likes of 3D glasses, state-of-the-art speakers and surround sound – all of which will allow you to enjoy the big picture to its full potential.
